Andy Murray derrotó a Roberto Bautista Agut por 7-6 (1), 6-1 el domingo en la final del Masters de Shanghai, para conseguir su segundo título en dos semanas y el sexto en lo que apunta a ser su mejor temporada en el tour.

Bautista Agut, con poderosos reveses y ángulos cerrados puso en dificultades al británico en el primer set y lo forzó a cometer errores.

Al sacar para el set con ventaja 5-4, Murray pareció distraído por los movimientos en las tribunas y desperdició tres set points hasta que el español igualó. Pero durante el tiebreaker Murray se asentó, y terminó el segundo set en apenas 31 minutos.

Murray, segundo preclasificado del certamen, cometió 16 errores no forzados en el primer set, pero solo tres en el segundo.

Bautista Agut, 15to favorito, venció sorpresivamente a Novak Djokovic en semifinales, pero la lucha por el título resultó más difícil: ningún jugador fuera del top ten ha vencido a los dos primeros del escalafón en el mismo torneo desde que el argentino David Nalbandian eliminó a Roger Federer y Rafael Nadal para ganar el Masters de París en 2007.
